Connecting your Google Business Profile to Goji
A Business Profile is often the first thing someone sees when they search for you, and Google gives more room to profiles that stay active. Connecting yours to Goji means each new article becomes a "What's new" update on your profile, where people already look you up on Search and Maps.
What connecting Google Business Profile gives you
- Updates where customers already are. Posts appear on your profile in Google Search and Maps, beside your opening hours and directions.
- A link button on every update. Each post carries a Learn more button pointing at the article.
- One location per connection. Branches stay separate, so each shop or office posts its own updates.
- One-click sign-in. You approve Goji with your Google account; nothing is copied or pasted.
Before you start
Two things decide whether this works, and both come from Google:
- You need a Business Profile that you manage with the Google account you are about to sign in with. If you manage it from a different account, sign in with that one instead.
- The location has to be one that account can post to. If a location does not appear in the list after you sign in, that account does not manage it.
If you run several branches, decide which one this connection is for. Each location is connected separately, so nothing is shared between them by accident.
How to connect it
- Open Channels from the sidebar and choose Google Business Profile.
- Sign in to Google and approve the request to manage your Business Profile.
- Choose the location you want to post to.
- You are returned to Goji with that location connected.
Google asks for your approval every time you connect, even if you have approved before. That is deliberate — it is what hands back the long-lived permission Goji needs to keep posting without interrupting you again in an hour.
What a Business Profile post looks like
Each update is plain text with a Learn more button underneath. Google does not make links inside the wording clickable, so the article link goes on the button rather than being pasted into the text where nobody could click it.
If the article has a picture, one photo is attached. Google fetches that image from your site itself, so it has to be publicly reachable and at least 250 pixels on its shorter side. An article with no picture still posts perfectly well — unlike some channels, a photo is optional here.
Updates are kept short on purpose. Google allows a long body, but profile updates are read at a glance, so Goji aims for a couple of sentences and adds no hashtags, which read as spam on a Business Profile.
If something goes wrong
- No locations listed. The Google account you signed in with does not manage any location. Sign in with the account that does.
- Google accepted the update, then took it down. Google reviews posts against its content policy after accepting them. Promotional claims, phone numbers in the text and blocks of capital letters are the usual causes.
- Posting stopped after a change at Google. If that account loses access to the location, or the location is removed, reconnect from the Channels page and choose the location again.
- The photo did not appear. Google could not fetch it. Images behind a login, or on a staging site that is not publicly reachable, will not work.
Run Check connection on the Channels page at any time to see the current state of a connection.
Getting an update noticed
A profile update is read by somebody who is already looking at your business and deciding whether to call or visit. That makes the useful update a concrete one: what is new this week, what has changed about your stock or your hours, or the article that answers the question customers keep asking you.
Frequency matters less here than on a social network, but a profile last updated months ago looks abandoned to someone comparing you with the business next door. A steady trickle is enough.
Common questions
Can I connect more than one location? Yes. Connect the channel once for each location, and each keeps its own posts.
Can I schedule an update for a particular time? Not through this channel. Google's scheduling applies to event and offer posts, not the plain updates Goji publishes.
Can I delete a post from Goji? No. Remove it from your Business Profile using Google's own tools.
Will it say the post came from a tool? No. Updates appear as your business, the same as one you write by hand.
