Connecting Instapaper to Goji

How to connect it

1. Open Channels from the sidebar and choose Instapaper.
2. Enter the email address your Instapaper account uses.
3. Enter the password. Many Instapaper accounts have no password set at all — that is normal and expected, and the field can be left empty in that case.
4. Save. The credentials are verified with Instapaper straight away.

What gets saved

Each article is saved by its URL, with its title. Instapaper then fetches the page itself and produces its own clean reading view, which means the formatting you see there comes from Instapaper's parser rather than from anything sent by Goji.

Because saving is by URL, articles behind a login or a paywall may appear in your list with little or no text. That is Instapaper being unable to read the page, not a failed save.

If something goes wrong

• Sign-in was rejected. Check the email address is the one the account uses. If you have never set a password, leave that field empty rather than guessing.
• Articles appear with no text. Instapaper could not read the page — usually a login wall or a site that blocks its fetcher.
• Nothing is arriving. Confirm the channel is enabled and that your publishing rules include it; it is easy to forget a private channel exists.

When a private channel is the right choice

It is worth saying plainly that Instapaper will not bring you a single visitor, because it publishes nothing. Its value is entirely internal: a dated, searchable record of everything your site has put out, readable offline, without depending on your own site staying online.
