Pinterest on Goji — planned channel
Pinterest is not available to connect yet. It appears on our roadmap rather than in your Channels list, and there is no date committed. This page explains what it will do when it ships, what is holding it up, and what is worth doing now so that connecting it later takes a minute rather than an afternoon.
Why Pinterest is worth having
Pinterest behaves less like a social network and more like a visual search engine. People arrive with intent — planning a purchase, a room, a menu, a trip — and pins keep bringing traffic months and years after they are published, which is unlike almost every other channel on this list. For anyone selling something physical or visual, that long tail is the point.
What it will do when it ships
- Publish each new article as a pin, using the article's image, title and description.
- Post to a board you choose, so different content can go to different boards rather than one undifferentiated feed.
- Link back to your site, which is what makes Pinterest a traffic source rather than a gallery.
Pinterest will be a publishing channel only. It has no messaging surface for businesses, so nothing will arrive in your inbox from it.
What is holding it up
Pinterest requires applications that post on a business's behalf to pass its own review before they are granted production access. That review is a queue on Pinterest's side, and it is not something we can shorten by writing more code. Until it clears, the connection cannot be offered to customers — which is why you see this page rather than a button that fails.
What you can do now
- Convert to a business account. It is free, and personal accounts cannot be connected by any tool. Pinterest offers a direct conversion in its settings.
- Claim your website. This is the highest-value step and it takes minutes. A claimed site gets your name and picture attached to every pin that links to it — including pins other people create from your pages — and unlocks analytics for that traffic.
- Create the boards you actually want. Decide now where articles should land. A board named for a real topic performs far better than one named after your company.
- Make sure your articles have good images. Pinterest is unforgiving here: tall images perform substantially better than wide ones, and an article with no image cannot become a pin at all.
What to use meanwhile
If your audience is on Pinterest today, the practical stopgap is Buffer: it supports Pinterest, and Goji can queue articles into Buffer already. That gets your content there now, through a route that works, and you can move to the direct connection later without losing anything.
Common questions
Will I be told when it is ready? The channel will simply appear in your Channels list, and this page will be replaced with the real connecting steps.
Will it cost extra? Channel availability follows your plan, as with every other channel. Pinterest will not be billed separately.
Can I be a tester? Get in touch — an account with a claimed site and real boards is genuinely useful for testing.
Will it pin old articles when I connect? No. Publishing starts with the next article, exactly as every other channel behaves.
