Connecting Shopify to Goji

Updated Aug 28, 2026

Shopify is different from most entries in this help centre, and the difference matters: it is a content source, not a posting channel. Goji does not post to Shopify. It reads your products from Shopify, so that each new product can then be published to the social channels you have connected.

What connecting Shopify gives you

  • New products become posts. Add a product in Shopify and it can be announced automatically on your social channels.
  • Product data carried across. The title, description and product image are used to build each post.
  • One place to work. Your catalogue stays in Shopify; nothing is duplicated or re-entered.
  • Rules still apply. Publishing rules decide which channels receive products and when, exactly as they do for articles.

Before you start

A source belongs to a website in your workspace, so the order of operations matters:

  1. Add your website under Auto Social → Websites and complete its verification.
  2. Only then add the Shopify source to it.

This trips people up because they look for Shopify on the Channels page. It is not there — Channels is for places posts go out to, and Shopify is a place content comes in from.

How to add it

  1. Open Auto Social → Websites and open your verified website.
  2. Add a content source and choose the Shopify products type.
  3. Give the store address it should read from.
  4. Save. Goji reads the source to confirm it can see your products.

What happens next

Goji checks the source periodically for products it has not seen before. New products are queued and then published to whichever channels your rules send them to. Products that already existed when you connected are not published retroactively — connecting a source should never blast your whole catalogue at your followers on day one.

Because Instagram and several other networks require an image, products without one will publish to the channels that allow text and be skipped on the channels that do not. Making sure new products carry a good image is the single most useful thing you can do for this workflow.

If something goes wrong

  • No products are found. The store address is wrong, or the store is password-protected while under construction. Goji can only read what a visitor could read.
  • Products appear but posts look thin. The product description is short or empty. Descriptions do real work here, because they become the post text.
  • Nothing publishes. The source is working but no rule routes it anywhere. Check your publishing rules include this website.
  • Old products suddenly published. A product was edited in a way that made it look new. Check what changed in Shopify.

Common questions

Can Goji post to my Shopify store? No — it reads from it. Shopify is a source in both directions of this sentence: content comes from it, nothing goes to it.

Does it sync orders or stock? No. This is about publishing product content, not commerce data.

Can I connect more than one store? Yes — add a source per store, against the website it belongs to.

Will it repost a product I edit? Only if the change makes it look like new content. Ordinary edits do not re-announce a product.
