Connecting X (Twitter) to Goji
X, still called Twitter by most people, remains a fast way to put a new article in front of people who follow you. Connecting it to Goji means each new article is posted with its headline and a link, without you opening the app.
What connecting X gives you
- Automatic posts. Each new article is posted with its headline, a trimmed summary and a link back to you.
- Your account, your voice. Posts come from your account exactly as if you had written them.
- A choice of billing. Post using Goji's posting credits, or connect your own X developer app and be billed by X directly.
Before you start
You need an X account you can sign in to. That is all, if you use Goji's posting credits. If you would rather use your own X developer app, you will need a developer account with X and its keys — X charges for API access under its own plans, and those charges go to you.
It is worth understanding the difference before connecting, because it decides who pays:
- Goji credits — simplest. You buy posting credits in your workspace, and each post draws from that balance. Nothing to set up with X.
- Your own developer app — you hold the keys and X bills you under whichever API plan you are on. No Goji credits are used.
How to connect it
- Open Channels from the sidebar and choose X (Twitter).
- Sign in to X and approve access. You are signing in to X itself; Goji never sees your password.
- Choose which billing mode this account should use.
- You are returned to Goji with the account connected.
How posting credits work
If you chose Goji credits, your workspace holds one balance shared by every credit-mode X account you connect. The Channels page shows the balance and an estimate of how many posts remain — a post with a link costs more than a text-only post, which is why the estimate is given as a range.
When the balance runs out, posts wait rather than fail. They publish once you top up, so nothing is lost. The page warns you before you reach zero.
If something goes wrong
- Posts stopped and the balance is zero. Add credits and the waiting posts go out.
- Authorisation failed. Access was revoked in your X account settings, or the password changed. Reconnect.
- The post was shortened. X limits post length; long headlines are trimmed so the link survives.
- Your own app is rejected. The X developer plan attached to those keys does not permit posting. That is X's rule, and only X can change it.
Getting more from a short post
X gives you very little room, and the link takes some of it. The headline is doing nearly all the work, so headlines written to be self-explanatory travel much better here than clever ones that depend on the article for context.
It is also worth knowing what happens when a post is too long: the headline is trimmed and the link is preserved, never the other way round. A truncated headline still earns a click, whereas a post that lost its link earns nothing at all. If your headlines are routinely long, consider a shorter summary field on the source article.
Common questions
Can I connect several X accounts? Yes, and each can use a different billing mode.
Does it post threads? No — one post per article.
Do credits expire? No. The balance stays until it is used.
Can I switch billing mode later? Yes, without disconnecting.
