BAND on Goji — planned channel

Updated Aug 28, 2026

BAND is not available to connect yet. It is planned, with no committed date. This page explains what it will do and who it is genuinely useful for.

What BAND is

BAND is a group communication app, very widely used in South Korea and with a substantial following elsewhere, particularly among clubs, sports teams, classes, congregations and community organisations. It sits somewhere between a private group chat and a small social network: members join a specific group, and posts, photo albums, calendars and polls all live inside it.

It suits organisations with defined membership far better than businesses seeking reach. If you run classes, a club, a team or a members' association — and especially if your members are Korean-speaking — it is likely the place they already check.

What it will do when it ships

  • Publish each new article to a group you choose, with its picture, headline, summary and link.
  • Post as the group, alongside the announcements members already read there.
  • Support several groups, connected separately, so different audiences get different content.

What is holding it up

The interface BAND provides has been checked and the shape of the integration is understood; the remaining work is building and testing it. It sits behind the more widely requested channels in our queue, which is the honest reason it has not shipped rather than any technical obstacle.

What you can do now

  1. Create your group and make yourself a leader. Posting will always be to a group, and only a leader or co-leader can grant an application access.
  2. Set the group up properly — cover image, description, and the joining rules you want. Members judge a group in seconds, exactly as they would a page.
  3. Consider language. If your members are Korean-speaking, plan for posts in Korean rather than assuming English summaries will do.
  4. Think about frequency. BAND notifies members of posts, so a group treated as an automated feed becomes a group people mute. This is a channel where fewer, better posts win clearly.

What to use meanwhile

If your members are reachable another way, Telegram is available today and behaves similarly for broadcast announcements — a channel your members subscribe to, with posts arriving in order and no algorithm in between. It is not the same community feel, but it works now and costs nothing to try.

Why frequency matters more here than elsewhere

BAND pushes a notification for group posts, and members generally have it switched on because that is the point of the app. A feed that arrives three times a day is therefore experienced as three interruptions, not three impressions - and the response is not unfollowing but muting, which is worse because you keep the member count and lose the reach without ever seeing it happen.

The organisations that do well treat the group as a noticeboard: the class is cancelled, the fixture moved, the newsletter is out. When the channel ships, publishing rules will let you send only the articles that genuinely warrant a notification, and that is the setting worth getting right on the first day rather than the tenth.

Common questions

Will member comments come into my inbox? No. This will be a publishing channel; conversations stay in BAND.

Can it post to a public BAND page? Groups are the destination. Public page support is decided when the work is done.

Does it need a business account? No, but you must be a leader of the group you connect.

Will it post old articles when I connect? No. Publishing starts with the next one, as with every channel.
